Artist:"the idea for this unusual painting came from a photo, I took in 1981 during a visit to New York City, when I was walking along Wall Street and saw the standpipe gleaming and shimmering brightly in that relatively dark lane - at home I was still fascinated by the photo and decided to paint it like a still life with tempera colors, mostly in gray-blue color tones, but the caps in red - many people seem to love it, so here it is four you..."
